Early Life and Career of David Muir
Muir was born on 8th November 1973 in New York in a Roman Catholic family. He was raised in Onondaga Hill. Muir has a huge family tree, he has one older sibling and two younger step-siblings, along with six nieces and three nephews. He completed his schooling at Onondaga Central Junior-Senior High in the year 1991. After that, for further studies, he joined a local Ithaca college, where his graduation course was a Bachelor of Arts in journalism. He use to watch ABC news at night with his family, and from there, his interest in becoming a new anchor arose. During his college life, one=ce a professor told him that he had ‘the cut of TV newsman. He visited many universities and colleges to gain experience and learn more about journalism.
He spent a semester at the Institute of Political Journalism at Georgetown University and another semester at the Institute for the International education of students at the University of Samlanca in Spain.
During his school life, he joined the WTVH television, where he worked as an anchor and reporter in his hometown from 1994 to 2000. In the year 1995, Muir’s report of the assassination of Israeli Prime minister Yitzhak Rabin helped him earn the honors from the Radio-television News Directors Association. Later, from 2000-to 2003, he worked with WCVB television in Boston as an anchor and reporter.
In August 2003, he joined ABC as anchor of the overnight news program World News Now. He also became the anchor of ABC News’ early morning newscast World News This Morning. Later, in 2006, he got the opportunity to co-anchor the newsmagazine Primetime. In the month of June 2007, Muir became the anchor of World News Saturday. In February 2012, Muir became the anchor for the weekend newscasts. The broadcast was named World News with David Muir. Muir was promoted to co-anchor ABC’s 20/20 with Elizabeth Vargas in February 2013.
