Our favourite American science fiction horror television series Stranger things is bound to return for a 4th and a final season, as announced by Netflix. The previous season left many questions in the viewers’s mind and possible theories that would set the plot for the upcoming season.
Stranger things season 4: When will it air? (release date)
The exact release date of the show has not yet been revealed by the show producers. Unfortunately, the release date has been pushed because of the covid pandemic. In an Instagram Q&A back in March 2020, David Harbour (Jim Hopper) said that he thought new episodes were “supposed to come out early next year”.
Natalia Dyer (Nancy) told The Independent that it’s going to be “a while” before we see anything new.
However, good news is that the show is back to its production, following covid safety measures, after being shut down earlier due to the lockdown.
“It’s definitely a slower process than usual, which is really saying something because we take our sweet time making the show, anyway. So it’s not as steady paced or as consistent as I think any of us would like it to be, but we do our best and we’re playing it by ear,” Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin) told People.
Upcoming plots
Last season we saw many deaths, but the most painful was that of our beloved inspector, Jim Hopper’s. However, in the season 4 teaser we saw that Hopper is infact alive and captured by the Russians.
Speaking at Liverpool Comic Con, David Harbour said “In season four we will give you a big, huge reveal about Hopper’s backstory, which we haven’t really told you about… we’re gonna express it in a big way.”
Meanwhile in the end of season 3, we see Will, Joyce and Jonathan leave the town along with Eleven. Also, there is a huge twist : Eleven seems to have lost all her powers. She is unable to even lift her teddy bear off the top shelf of her wardrobe.
An interesting theory put forward by a Reddit user weedmonkey666 is that Brown’s character could have been infected by that monster bite on her leg in season three and because of this, the Mind Flayer could turn her against the town of Hawkins: “If Eleven is infected, the Mind Flayer could control her like it did with Billy, Will and the flayed, to eventually destroy her or use her to get more control/spread.”
Another interesting theory is that the soviet is not done yet inspite of facing the losses. Is the gate not closed properly? what do the russians have in their minds? They do still have a Demogorgon in captivity.
One thing that we do know for sure is the title of the first episode of season four: ‘The Hellfire Club’.
