Personal Life
Sahibzada Mohammad Shahid Khan Afridi, chiefly known as Shahid Afridi, is a Pakistani international cricketer and a former captain of Pakistan national cricket team. Shahid Afridi is an all-rounder player, and Afridi was loved and appreciated for his consistent bowling that counted on a change of degree rather than spin, but he attracted more attention for his bold batting style.
Early Life
Shahid Afridi was born on 1st March. It has been documented that Shahid Afridi was born in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. In his autobiography, ‘Game Changer’, Afridi revealed that his birth year his 1975.
Family
Shahid Afridi belongs to a family of Sufi pirs (teachers or spiritual masters). His grandfather Maulana Muhammad Ilyas was a well-known spiritual figure in Bhutan Sharif. Shahid Afridi’s another grandfather Sahibzada Abdul Baqi, was known as Ghazi a Kashmir (conqueror of Kashmir).
Shahid Afridi married his maternal cousin Nadia Afridi on October 21.
Shahid Afridi and Nadia Afridi has 5 daughters, Ajwa Afridi, Ansha Afridi, Asmara Afridi, Aqsa Afridi. In Feb 2020, they were blessed with the fifth daughter.
Career
Shahid Afridi began his career as a leg spinner in the Sameer Cup 1996–1997 by replacing injured Mushtaq Ahmed. Afridi played under-19 team. While playing for this enrollment, his performances were mind-blowing in the championship circuit that was started in 1994. He was promoted to the senior draft of the Pakistan national team. He progressed for the Karachi Whites that enabled his team to win the match. He made 42 wickets in five matches with an outstanding average of 9.59.
Afridi had also played in the national side against England. In the Senior National Championship, Afridi represented Karachi Whites by playing first-class cricket for them. He earned the record of the world’s fastest One Day International century by 37 deliveries. He also earned the title of the holder to hit the most sixes overall in the history of One Day International cricket. He has also represented the national team in the 2007 World Twenty20 and ICC Twenty20 World Cup in 2009.
Awards
On 23 March 2010, Shahid Afridi was awarded by The Pride of Performance by the president of Pakistan.
On 23 March 2018, he was awarded the Sitara-i- imtiaz by President of Pakistan Manmoon Hussain.
In 2020, he was awarded for the Most popular sports personality.
