PERSONAL LIFE
Sakshi Tanwar was born and brought up in Alwar, Rajasthan, India in an upper middle class family. Her father, Rajendra Singh Tanwar, is a retired CBI officer. Her mother’s name is unknown.
Sakshi also has an elder brother, Rajeev Singh Tanwar and an elder sister, Seema Tanwar. Sakshi is the youngest of the three siblings.
In 2018, she adopted a 9 months old baby girl and named her, Dityaa. She thus became a single mother.
In 2015, she was rumoured to be in a relationship with her Bade Achhe Lagte Hain co star Samir Kochhar. However, the couple neither denied nor confirmed anything.
CAREER
In 1988, Sakshi gave an audition for the national broadcaster Doordarshan‘s film songs based program Albela Sur Mela and was selected as the presenter. This marked her debut in the Television Industry.
After her debut, she appeared and gained fame for her role of Parvati Agarwal in the soap opera, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii.
Later in 2011, Sakshi played the role of Priya Kapoor, opposite Ram Kapoor, in Bade Achhe Lagte Hain. She won several positive reviews from critics and awards for her performance. It was the turning point of her career.
In 2005 and 2012 she appeared in Kaun Banega Crorepati as a contestant.
Apart from acting, she has also appeared as a host in series like Crime Patrol 2, Main Naa Bhoolungi, Tyohaar Ki Thaali and Code Red.

In the 2016 film Dangal, Tanwar played Daya Kaur, wife of former wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat (played by Aamir Khan).
Sakshi made her debut in web series with ALT Balaji series Karrle Tu Bhi Mohabbat (2017). In 2019 she worked in ZEE5 series, The Final Call as ATC Kiran Mirza and Mission Over Mars.
