Roopa Ganguly is a former Indian actress, a politician and a playback singer. She is best known for her role as Draupadi in the epic Indian television series Mahabharat by B R Chopra in 1988.

Roopa Ganguly was born in a Hindu family. Her father’s name is Samarendra Lal Ganguly and mother’s name is Juthika Ganguly.
Husband and Children:
Roopa Ganguly got married to Dhrubo Mukerjee in the year 1992, who is a Mechanical Engineer. They have a son names Akash Mukherjee, who was born in 1997. Roopa had a tough domestic life as Dhrubo could not take the fame that Roopa had. So the couple got divorced in the year 2006.
Roopa was even in a live-in relationship with Dibyendu who is a playback singer and was 13 years younger than her. Both of them lived in Roopa’s flat. But their relationship ended roughly after a few months.
Acting Career:
Roopa Ganguly started her acting career with a few Bengali TV serials. She gained recognition after appearing in the TV series “Muktabandha” in the year 1986 and B R Chopra’s “Mahabharat” in 1988. She has worked in Television Serials like “Karam Apna Apna”, “Love Story”, “Vakt Batyega Kaun Apna Kaun Paraya”, “Kasturi” and “Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo”.

Political Career:
Roopa Ganguly stepped into the political field in 2015 by joining (BJP) Bharatiya Janata Party. Roopa lost from Howrah North to Trinamool Congress candidate, Laxmi Ratan Shukla in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly Election in 2016. In the same year, she was nominated to the Rajya Sabha in place of Navjot Singh Sidhu
Facts:
- In 2009, Roopa appeared on the show “Hello Bolchi Friends” on Friends FM.
- Apparently, Roopa attempted suicide 3 times but survived every time. She disclosed in an interview that she left her career for her marriage and become a domesticated housewife.
- Reportedly, in 2016, Ganguly’s car was attacked by the Trinamool party workers in the Diamond harbor area during the West Bengal Legislative Assembly Elections.
- She is widely known for her accent and versatility adaptation.
