Raghu Ram and Rajiv Lakshman are probably India’s most famous twins, the brothers are known for beings the presenters of the youth-based television series, MTV Dropout Pvt Ltd and MTV Roadies. The two have been given the title of “television’s famous angry twins” due to their bold and outspoken demeanour in their shows. They have garnered a reputation of being harsh and blunt with their contestants which has earned them this role, they play of a pair of evil bullies pushing the people on their shows to reach their full potential. Except for their positions as TV hosts Raghu and Rajiv are also actors and producers. In 2014, they also set up their own content studio called Monozygotic Solutions Pvt. Ltd.
Raghu Ram and Rajiv Lakshman were born on 15th April 1975 (age 45) Machilipatnam, Andhra Pradesh. They did their schooling from Delhi Tamil Education Association Senior Secondary School. Their family consists of their mother who is a journalist, their father who was a chartered accountant and the two also have a sister Supriya Nistala. Their family name is Ambadapudi.
Raghu Ram
Raghu Ram Ambadapudi is an Indian television host, producer and actor. He completed his college education from Osmania University, Hyderabad. He tried out for the singing reality TV show Indian Idol as well in 2004 but he was rejected by the judges, Anu Malik, Farah Khan and Sonu Nigam as they felt his attitude was unpleasant and his voice lacked the standards for Indian Idol.
Raghu’s career started in MTV India at the position of a supervisor to various television shows. He worked on shows like MTV Love Line which was dating/ love life advice show hosted by VJs Malika Arora and Cyrus Broacha. He also worked on the music show MTV Select and MTV Super Select with VJ Nikhil Chinapa.
In 2000 he pitched his idea of MTV Roadies and it was accepted to go on a trial basis with the name MTV: Find The Road. Raghu couldn’t get all the seniors on board initially but their skepticism was proved to be wrong. The show after its second season took off and became very popular especially among the younger demographic. MTV Roadies was first aired in 2003 the show was about challenging the emotional, social and physical strength of people testing the contestant’s endurance. MTV Roadies has gone on to become the longest running Indian Reality TV show.
Eventually Raghu Ram was appointed as senior supervising producer of MTV. He also went on to become the executive producer not only of his show MTV Roadies but also the Indian dating reality TV show MTV Splitsvillla which first aired in June of 2008.
In 2014, after almost 11 years since the conception of MTV Roadies, Raghu revealed that he will no longer be attached to the show and move on to new projects. He tweeted “Roadies is happening. I’m not gonna do it though. I’m done with it. Moved on. About time, too.”
In 2013 Raghu wrote an autobiography called Rearview: My Roadies Journey, it was published by Rupa Publications. The book spoke about his personal life and gave us insight on his journey as a Roadies judge.
Raghu has tried his hand in acting as well, he has been in movies such as the 2010 heist comedy film Tees Maar Khan with Akshay Kumar. He also acted in the John Abraham film Jhoota Hi Sahi. He even dabbled in singing with his song Manmani being nominated at the GIMA Awards in 2012.
Raghu Ram was married to the Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na actress Sugandha Garg. The two tied the knot in 2006, after a decade they announced their separation and in 2018 their divorce was finalized.
Currently Raghu is married to the Canadian- Italian Natalie Di Luccio. They got married in 2018.
Rajiv Lakshman
Rajiv Lakshman Ambadapudi is an Indian television hots, creator and producer. He along with his twin brother helped create extremely popular shows such as MTV Dropout Pvt Ltd and MTV Roadies. Roadies has become one of the longest running Indian reality TV shows, his claim to fame was through this show as it became very popular since its conception in 2004. Especially among the youth.
In 2014 the original creators of MTV Roadies Rajiv Lakshman, Raghu Ram and RJ Amit stepped down from the show stating that they had worked hard to promote the show and now it was the chance of the new generation to take the show forward.
Rajiv apart from his career in reality TV has also dabbled into other fields such as acting, in 2010 he appeared in the Akshay Kumar starrer Tees Maar Khan. though the film did not do well his role as one of the Johari brothers still stays iconic. In 2016 Rajiv worked on a film called “Dhanak” which managed to garner critical acclaim.
His show MTV Dropout Pvt Ltd along with his brother was aimed at budding entrepreneurs. The duo themselves launched a content studio in 2014 called Monozygotic Solutions Pvt. Ltd.
The brothers got into trouble back in 2011, when a group of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) tried to blacken their faces. The activists stated that they strongly condemned the use of foul language on National television.
Rajiv Lakshmana is married to Susan Lakshman and they have son called Noah. A little known fact about him was that he wasn’t always bald but rather shaved his head to match his brother’s look and in order to look more identical.
