Career
In 2014, Nitesh Tiwari made the transition from the business world to Indian cinema, where he directed the supernatural political drama film Bhoothnath Returns. He co-wrote and directed the Aamir Khan-starring film Dangal in 2016. In April 2017, shortly after Dangal’s release, it was shown at the Beijing International Film Festival. Dangal was made available for the BRICS competition in June 2017.
Dangal was regarded as the highest-grossing Indian film of the same year and the fifth-highest-grossing non-English film. Nitesh Tiwari was nominated for several accolades and received praise from reviewers for his 2019 comedy Chhichhore, which starred Sushant Singh Rajput and Shraddha Kapoor.
