Have you ever been forced by your parents to opt a particular stream that you never wanted to choose but chose anyway just because your parents wanted you to be an IITIAN and not uh.. anything for which you may have to select Commerce instead of Science or Mathematics? Exactly, there is a phase in most of our lives when we undergo our parents pressure to make a specific choice because India is a country where the important life decisions is not a cup of tea for a child or a student, he does not seem capable of making his/her own choices in life. A country where a child’s intelligence is measured based on the subject that he/she opts, the number that he/she scores and the number of certificates earned in academics, we can relate these points either with ourselves or someone we know, somewhere.
This relatable feeling of dilemma that we face is what a series named “Lakhon Mein Ek” is made on. The Amazon Prime Video Original’s Lakhon Mein Ek got premiered on 13th October 2017 and its second season came out on April 12, 2019, with 6 episodes in former and 8 episodes in the later. Created by Biswa Kalyan Rath, the series sticks to a 15-year-old boy from Raipur named Aakash, who sees himself doing mimicry, a thing that is suitable for him but is enforced to join IIT coaching institute named Genius Infinity in Vishakhapatnam where he finds himself deviant and consequently, unable to cope up with the syllabus.
Season 2 emphasizes on a Doctor named Shreya who is an insurgent and demands for a healthcare centre in Sitlapur village. And the story’s concern is whether she is succeeded in changing the system or not.
The series has got the rating of 8.3 out of 10 and received mostly positive reviews from the critics and the youth found it relatable and understandable with what Aakash goes through.
