Jai Kishan Ahlawat popularly known as Jaideep Ahlawat was born in the village of Kharkara in Haryana state, to Jat family. He received his high school diploma from the Model School, Rohtak. He studied at Jaat College, Rohtak. Following his graduation, Ahlavat received his Master’s degree in English from MDU, Rohtak in 2005. In 2008 he graduated from the FTII in acting.
Jaideep played theater from a young age, but wanted to become Indian army officer. However, after failing to clear up his SSB interviews several times, he ventured into acting. He did stage shows in Punjab and Haryana. He began to take acting seriously only after graduating. He entered the film world the hard way, with no Godfather.
He was first recognised in a negative character in Priyadarshan’s Khatta Meetha (2010). Though he appeared in many small roles in movies such as ‘Chittagong’ (2011) & ‘Rockstar’ (2011) but he went unnoticed. In the same year he wes seen in Aakrosh. After that he starred many films including Anurag Kashyap’s Gangs of Wasseypur (2012) and Kamal Hasan’s Vishwaroopam (2012). Gangs of Wasseypur movie was a turning point in Jaideep’s life, as its success, helped him gain enough recognition and fame. Jaideep was the seen in a Tamil spy thriller film ‘Vishwaroopam’ with Kamal Hassan, which was again a great success in the south in 2013. He played Hathiram Chaudhary, the lead role in the Amazon Prime web series Paatal Lok (2020).
