George Harvey Strait is an American country music singer, songwriter, and music producer. He was born on May 18, 1952. He is well known to be among the all-time greatest country music performers. He is also referred to as the “king of the country” because of his excellence in the genre. He was born in Poteet, Texas, and spent his formative years in the nearby town of Pearsall.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
While pursuing his college degree, he became a singer for the country group Stoney Ridge, and he eventually became a leader for the group. He performed in southern and central Texas and built a fan base. Years of perseverance paid off in 1981 when Erv Woolsey helped Strait sign a solo contract with MCA Records. The next year, he put out his debut song, “Unwound.” It was a huge hit and rose to the top of Billboard magazine’s “hot country songs.” The first album he eventually released features “Unwound.” Throughout the next decade of this incident, he recorded 17 more hits. “Straight from the Heart” (1982), “Does Fort Worth Ever Cross Your Mind?” (1984), “Something Special” (1985), and “Ocean Front Property” (1987) were some of the most popular ones.

He holds the record for the most number of gold albums, platinum albums, and multi-platinum albums in the history of country music. He won his first Grammy for the best country album of 2008. He was also named “Artist of the Decade for the 2000s” in 2006 by the Academy of Country Music. Strait’s biggest career success has been his album “Pure Country,” which was also used as the soundtrack for a movie of the same name. His album straight out of the box also sold 8 million copies. He began his career while serving in the United States Army. He joined the army band “Rambling Country,” which also went by the name “Santee” when performed off base. He broke the record for number-one hit singles by selling over 70 million albums in the US alone.
