Originally from New York, Dan Ahdoot is also an actor, comedian, writer, and producer based in Los Angeles.
He is part Afghan, part Persian, and grew up in a hotbed of Iranian Jewry in Great Neck, New York. “So, when I went to college, I really didn’t notice the difference between him and the rest of the Jewish community.” Johns Hopkins University is where he completed his pre-med studies, was accepted to medical school, but opted to pursue stand-up comedy instead. He performed his first stand-up set at the Winchester Comedy Club in Baltimore, where he wrote skits for Hopkins improv troupe Buttered Niblets. They found the skits edgy and rejected them. Cooking is one of Dan’s favorite hobbies. He often posts pictures of the food he cooks on Instagram. According to Dan, food is great way to engage others in conversation. The occasional alcoholic beverage and cigarette are enjoyed by Dan.
IN addition to Bajillion Dollar Propertie$, Shameless, Workaholics, and Kickin’ It, he has appeared on NBC’s Bajillion Dollar Propertie$ and Showtime’s Shameless.
A writer with a wide range of experience, Dan has authored the Lionsgate feature film Public Disturbance as well as developed with FOX, CBS, NBC and Freeform.
