As of June 2024, Kemba Walker’s net worth is roughly $80 Million.

Early Life

Kemba Hudley Walker was born on the 8th of May, 1990, in Harlem, New York.

In his junior year, Walker played against Simeon Career Academy and senior guard Derrick Rose in Madison Square Garden in a 53–51 win.

During Walker’s senior year, he averaged 18.2 points per game and 5.3 assists per game, earning him a spot on the prestigious McDonald’s All-American Team.

Career

Kemba Walker started playing basketball at Rice High School in Harlem, New York, where he once played against Derrick Rose at Madison Square Garden.

Out of high school, he was considered a five-star recruit and the nation’s No. 14 player, and many colleges were looking to snag him.

In 2008, Walker opted to attend the University of Connecticut, where he played every contest and was named to the Big East All-Rookie Team.

By his junior year, his prominence had grown exponentially, and he had distinguished himself as one of the leading scorers in America.

Walker won the NCAA Basketball Tournament Most Outstanding Player honor in 2011 and was added to the Huskies of Honor recognition program.

The Charlotte Hornets

After graduating from UConn in three years, Kemba Walker entered the 2011 NBA Draft and was picked ninth overall by the Charlotte Hornets. ‘

Shortly after, he signed a multi-year shoe deal with Under Armour, the first rookie from the 2011 class to earn such a deal.

During his rookie season, he became the Hornets’ starting point guard and achieved his first triple-double, becoming the third in the team’s history to do so.

For his sophomore season, Walker scored a then career-high 35 points and was selected for his second Rising Stars Challenge.

In 2013, he was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week for his exceptional skills on the court.

The following season, he signed a four-year extension and set the Hornets record for the most points scored in a half with 35.

Unfortunately, he was later ruled out for six weeks to have surgery on a torn lateral meniscus in his left knee, and he missed 18 games.

Despite this setback, Walked kept working to become one of the highest-paid athletes in the world, and in 2015, he had a breakthrough.

Hitting His Stride

In 2015, Walker set a franchise record with 52 points in a victory against the Utah Jazz and shortly after became the third Hornet to make 500 three-pointers.

While he underwent surgery again in May 2016, he returned to score a season-high 30 points in a win against the Brooklyn Nets.

When he returned to the court, he recorded 7,000 points and became the second-quickest player in the franchise to do so.

After another procedure on his knee, Walker came back for the 2017 season and made all 14 free throw attempts.

He also set a new team record by making 44 consecutive free throws, bringing his career total to 1,999, breaking the previous record of 1,998.

Although he wasn’t as well-known as Michael Jordan, his skills certainly made him a favorite player among Hornets fans.

The Boston Celtics

In 2019, the Boston Celtics lost Kyrie Irving and Al Horford to free agency, meaning they were searching for talent to bolster their team.

Kemba Walker officially joined the Celtics in July 2019 and chose to wear Kobe Bryant’s number 8, as his usual number 15 was retired.

He made his debut with the Celtics in October but suffered a neck injury after colliding with Semi Ojeleye.

Fortunately, he was back in November, and by January, he had recorded his first head-to-head win against LeBron James and the Celtics’ rival Lakers.

While the 2020 season was suspended due to COVID, he returned in 2021 but missed the first-round playoff series with a bone bruise.

The New York Knicks

Kemba Walker was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2021 and reached a buyout agreement with them in August.

He then signed with his hometown team, the New York Knicks, and in his first game with them, recorded 10 points and eight assists.

However, he was removed from rotation in November in favor of Alec Burks and sat for 10 games before being reactivated.

In December, he became the seventh player in NBA history to record a triple-double during an NBA Christmas Day game.

After missing a few games due to knee problems, he was sidelined for the remainder of the season and traded to the Detroit Pistons.

Continuing His Career

Once traded, Kemba Walker reached a buyout agreement and signed with the Dallas Mavericks, where he spent the 2022-23 season.

However, in January, Walker was waived by the Mavericks, so he started looking outside the US for a team.

In July 2023, he signed with LNB Pro A and the EuroLeague club AS Monaco, where he has remained since.

During his debut for Monaco, Walker scored two points in ten minutes of play, helping his team win over Crvena Zvezda.

He may not be one of the richest NBA players yet, but he is certainly working hard to join that elite group!
