He signed to Once Records and released the tracks ‘Privilege’ and ‘Qwerty.’

It was followed by the track ‘Funktion One, ‘ which was released, mixed by Azucar, and later added ‘Hear My Sound.’

Career

Nicky Romero began his career with Once Records, releasing the tracks “Privilege” and “Qwerty.”

He followed these up with “Funktion One” and “Hear My Sound” before remixing Tony Cha Cha’s “Get on the Floor.”

The same year, he remixed a bootleg for David Guetta called “When Love Takes Over,” which boosted his renown in the industry.

Thanks to the exposure from these tracks, the Ministry of Sound brought him in to create remixes for their label.

Making A Name For Himself

In 2010, Nicky Romero created the track “My Friend,” which he released with Spinnin’ Records using a sample from the Groove Armada song by the same name.

This track became a fixture on the Beatport Top 10, and MTV named him an EDM artist to watch that year.

Mainstream Success

With this boost in popularity, Nicky Romero earned a joint residency with David Guetta in Ibiza during the summer of 2012.

That same year, he earned spot 17 in DJ Mag’s Top DJ fan poll, making him one of the highest-ranking new artists alongside Skrillex and Dash Berlin.

Soon after, he collaborated with Avicii on the single “I Could Be the One,” which became a massive success across Europe.

To follow up, Romero released the single “Symphonica in 2013, which reached no. 1 on the overall Beatport Top 100 chart.

He then collaborated with Sunnery James and Ryan Marciano on “S.O.T.U.,” released via Steve Angello’s Size Records.

Along with all of his new music at the time, Romero played at many festivals in 2013, including Ultra, Coachella, Electric Daisy Carnival, and Tomorrowland.

During his Tomorrowland performance, he became one of the first acts to include an interactive experience using Google Glass.

Nicky Romero released the song “Feet On The Ground” with Dutch singer Anouk in 2014.
