He has collaborated with many stars such as Owen Wilson and Ben Stiller.

Early Life

Shaun Weiss was born in Montvale, New Jersey, on the 27th of August, 1978.

Weiss is the youngest son of five children.

In 1990, he appeared as the catcher in the Pizza Hut commercial at the beginning of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Weiss attended Pascack Hills High School. He later starred in his debut film, Pee-wee’s Playhouse, which was a huge breakthrough in his career as an actor.

Career

Shaun Weiss began his career alongside Paul Reubens on Pee-Wee’s Playhouse in 1986.

In 1988, he appeared in the TV series Charles in Charge and Webster before guest-starring in Bill Cosby’s The Cosby Show in 1989.

However, his big break came in 1992, when Weiss, after starring in Here and Now, was cast as Greg Goldberg in the film The Mighty Ducks.

Although he was initially supposed to play Atuk the Eskimo in the film, his role expanded and popularity soared.

Two years later, Weiss reprised his role as Greg in D2: The Mighty Ducks and then again in D3: The Mighty Ducks in 1996.

At the same time, he was cast in Crazy for a Kiss, Heavyweights, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, and Saved by the Bell: The New Class

Establishing His Career

In 1996, Shaun Weiss was cast in the TV series Mr. Rhodes and appeared on The Tony Danza Show the following year.

Weiss then joined Ben Savage in two episodes of Boy Meets World and had a small role in The King of Queens from 1998 to 1999.

Ending the decade, Weiss guest-starred in Family Law and Undressed before landing a four-episode role in Freaks and Geeks

In 2000, Weiss appeared in Rave and then joined D2: Mighty Ducks co-star Scott White in four episodes of City Guy

Weiss had minor roles in Pumpkin and Pack of Dogs in 2002 before returning to The King of Queens in 2003.

The following year, he was seen in Las Vegas with Tom Selleck and Suits on the Loose, followed by an episode of Crossing Jordan

His final role before his long hiatus came in 2008 when he was cast as the bus driver in the film Drillbit Taylor

Addiction & Recovery

Shaun Weiss was sentenced to 150 days in jail in Los Angeles for petty theft in July 2017, and he served 12 days of his sentence before being released.

Unfortunately, five days after getting out, Weiss was arrested again, this time in Burbank, California, for possessing methamphetamine.

In 2020, he was busted again, this time in connection with a burglary, when cops found him trying to steal from a person’s garage.

Weiss was booked in the Yuba County Jail, and it was later revealed he had been living on the streets.

While a good number of the richest actors in the world have struggled with addiction, getting clean while TMZ hounds you isn’t the easiest thing.

Thankfully, Weiss was able to overcome his addiction with the help of his friends and fellow 90s co-stars, and today, he is making a comeback.

In 2023, Weiss starred in his first film since 2008, Jesus Revolution, and while he didn’t have a huge role, it’s a step in the right direction.

Most recently, Weiss celebrated four years of sobriety with a comedy concert at the Corbin Bowl in California in January 2024.

Alongside actors from Sabrina the Teenage Witch, American Pie, and The Sandlot, Weiss commented that he had the “best night.”

Favorite Quotes from Shaun Weiss

“Token Jew? Hmm… felt more like the token fat kid. The schools I attended were predominantly Jewish, so for a couple years, there was a bar/bat mitzvah every weekend, sometimes two. It was fun watching them try to top each other. Kept waiting for Streisand to show up and bust out the Hava Nagila.” – Shaun Weiss

“I assume you mean Emilio, the real guy. Best advice: “If you’re going to hook up with the extras, get their parents to sign a release form.” Kick Conway’s ass? What kind of mensch are you, guy?” – Shaun Weiss

“We had three months of hockey camp. Skating didn’t come easy for me—I spent the first month on my ass. Never wanted to quit, but I did wish the movie was about the Oregon football team.” – Shaun Weiss”

“Believe it or not, right after I did `Heavyweights,’ I was so inspired that I went to a real, quote-unquote, fat camp. I was 185 pounds, and I slimmed down to 152. So I went to this audition for the BBC in late August, and they said, `He’s too thin.’ I had to put it back on.” – Shaun Weiss

“We decided to give the producers a little run for their money. I was having hot dogs for lunch, so we got the entire cast to play sick to freak everybody out. We were all complaining, saying `My stomach is killing me.’ Finally, we started throwing up we were faking it. The producers went crazy. They nearly had a heart attack.” – Shaun Weiss

“Of course it all touched a nerve for me. The movie is not about skinny or fat. The movie is about being yourself and accepting what you are.” – Shaun Weiss
