The Drug Case
After Shushant Singh Rajput’s death in June, The Narcotics Control Bureau started to take charge against celebrities and their connection or consumption of drugs. In this investigation, On November 21, The NCB allegedly conducted a raid at comedian Bharti Singh and her husband Harsh Limbachiyaa’s house in Mumbai.
NCB officials had arrested a 21-year-old man from the Khar Danda area. During this investigation, the names of Bharti Singh and her husband Harsh Limbachiyaa had come up.
After the raid, they recovered 86.5 g of Cannabis from there. After investigation, Bharti Singh and Harsh Limbachiyaa confessed that they consumed Cannabis and got the stuff from one peddler. According to NDPS Act 1986, The consumption of weed is still illegal in India and thus these celebrities were immediately arrested. They were sent to judicial custody till December 4, 2020, by the court.
Ayaz Khan, the lawyer of Harsh and Bharti, argued against NCB when custodial interrogation was proposed, that custodial interrogation is needless as the recovered substance is lesser than the ‘small quantity as prescribed under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
After two days they were given bail. Bharti’s comedy career might be affected in the upcoming events due to this controversy but as we can see Bharti is coming strongly through more participation in reality shows.
