Personal life
Amrita Puri was born in Mumbai, Maharashtra, on 20 August 1983. She is Aditya Puri’s daughter, who is the Managing Director of HDFC Bank (the largest private sector bank in India). She belongs to a Punjabi family living in the district of Gurdaspur (Punjab). Her father moved to Mumbai before Amrita’s birth.
In 2017, Amrita married Imrun Sethi (a restaurant owner & cook in Mumbai). She is going to be married at a private ceremony in Bangkok.
Career
Amrita began her career with theatre work after graduation. In many plays, she acted. Along with freelancing for a lifestyle magazine, she also did Copywrite for advertising agency Ogilvy.
After some time, she tried to find out their future in Bollywood and she gives some auditions. She was chosen for Kotex’s promotional ad after offering so many auditions and later appeared in advertising and television ads for many brands, including People First, Garnier, and L’Oreal.
“Soon Amrita started her Bollywood journey by doing a debut in 2010 with Sonam Kapoor’s starring film Aisha“. She played Shefali Thakur’s role and received plenty of critical acclaims. This movie is based on Emma, a novel by Jane Austen. In 2012, Amrita was featured as Aarzoo’s female lead in the film Blood Money. This movie was a box-office failure, but she established herself as a leading female star.
The most critically acclaimed film by Amrita, released in 2013, was Kai Po Che! In which she played the role of the sister of Sushant Singh Rajput and the love-interest role of Vidya Bhatt for Rajkummar Rao.
She was recently seen on Amazan’s prime video web series “Four more shots please!” in 2019. ”. Amrita will be featured in Mental Hai Kya, Singh & Kaur, Shor Shagun Shaadi, three Bollywood movies.
